Creamed Honey Apple Dippers

  • 1 large apple, I used Granny Smith (1 apple makes 12 pops)
  • 1–2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
  • Toppings of your choice (see list below)
  • Honey
  • Popsicle sticks, lollipop sticks, or rock candy sticks

  1. Cut the apple into 12 wedges.
  2. Place the apple wedges in a medium mixing bowl and toss with fresh lemon juice, until they are all coated. The apples will not absorb any lemon flavor, it simply prevents the apples from turning brown. Let the apples sit for three to five minutes.
  3. In the meantime, place the toppings of your choice in either individual shallow, wide-rimmed bowls, or cupcake liners. Pour the honey into a separate bowl. Set aside.
  4. Once the apples have soaked, dry them very well with a paper towel and insert the sticks into the apple wedges.
  5. Dip the apples in the honey. You can use a spoon to get a more even coating. It’s very important to allow all the excess honey to drip off (you want a very thin layer of honey remaining on your apple wedge).
  6. Then dip and roll them into desired toppings. Place the prepared apple pops in the serving boats. Eat and enjoy!
Wash and dry your apple very well. If a wax coating is left on your apple, there’s a good chance the honey will glide right off.

Another tip to prevent the honey from dripping off is to use a very thin coating of honey on each apple wedge (scrape some off with a spoon if you need to). If there’s too much honey on each pop, most of it will drip off.

Don’t skip the lemon juice! It will prevent your pops from turning brown.

I recommend placing your toppings into large cupcake liners. They provide a shallow and moveable holder – which makes dipping really easy, especially for kids. They also make for my kind of cleanup, or lack of, that is!

These pops are meant to be eaten right away. I do not recommend making them in advance.

The boats are adorable here, but they also serve an important purpose–they catch any of the honey and toppings that might drip off. So be sure to place each pop in something that will help hold them together, and will catch the mess while they’re being eaten.
