Mmmm! You’re looking at one of my all time favorite Chanukah indulgences right there! Latkes!
If you’re familiar with latkes (fried potato pancakes), then you have probably noticed lots of flavor variations and new takes on this classic Chanukah food over the past couple of years.
Although different flavored latkes can be delicious, I like the classic potato latke. So, instead of coming up with a wacky new latke flavor, I decided to just load mine up with some of my favorite toppings!
Behold, my Israeli loaded latke platter!
To make my Israeli loaded latke platter, I simply topped my latkes with some of my favorite Israeli toppings!
I used fresh and crisp salad greens, a lemony Israeli salad, spicy matbucha, chickpeas, Israeli pickles, marinated cheese, avocado (because it goes well on everything), and creamy tahini sauce!
The great thing about this “recipe” is that you can top your latkes with whatever you like! It’s a total blank slate-top it with your favorites!
You can add hot peppers, different cheeses, sauerkraut, marinated olives…you name it!
And guess what? You can totally change this up and make it a Mexican loaded latke platter for example. Think melted cheddar, guacamole, sour cream, and beans! YUM!
Be creative, have fun and enjoy!
- Fresh potato latkes
- Salad greens
- Israeli salad, drained from juices
- Matbucha
- Chickpeas, drained
- Israeli pickles, large dice
- Marinated cheese, cut into cubes
- Avocado, diced
- Tahini Sauce
- Sesame Seeds, optional
- Place your latkes on a large platter. Start by topping them with the salad greens (so the latkes don’t get soggy from the other toppings), and then top with the rest of the ingredients. Sprinkle with sesame seeds.
*Other topping theme ideas to consider: Mexican, BBQ and Greek.
